Dallas Willard...

...blew me away for three days. My son and I picked him up at the airport.

Dallas told me these things:

1. Call me Dallas.

2. I am here to work. I dont care if it is on the program or not; if you need something, just tell me. I am here to work.

3. My role here is that of servant. I understand myself to be a servant.

In case you did not know, Dallas Willard is the real deal. He communicated deep truth in a crystal clear fashion with humor and verve.

I know this may not mean much to you but he attended every minute of every session whether it was his time to speak or that of someone else. He participated in the music worship, took notes of the other speakers and stayed with us the whole time.

When he was through speaking he stepped off the front of the platform and stayed until the last person came to him, shook his hand and talked endlessly about whatever.

This may not seem like much to you but after three plus years I am accustomed to the Christian star set of celebrities. To meet a working servant is the stuff of dreams.

Dallas Willard just blew me away.

You said it, brother! I took advantage of one of the breaks to take his new book and get him to sign it. I always feel awkward doing that, but he made me feel welcomed. When he had finished, he made small talk with me and then said, "I am so glad to be in the same yoke as you!"
He's the real deal - may it be said of all of us someday...

Willard's books have had a tremendous influence upon me over the years, so I thank you for giving us access to him. He was every bit the teacher that I thought he would be, but his humility and Christlike manner truly set him apart.

It's like I stepped back in time...!?
